Why do I need to log in into Update Manager to install the plugins?

The software installer ask for a login and password when installing. Why is this required?

Some parts of the installation are now available as online content. You need to provide a valid iToo account to run the installer package and get the latest versions of the software components. For registered products make sure to use same login and account that you used to download the software to get access to the paid content.
