What's New in Forest Pack 7
Forest Pack 7 brings a host of new features and updates that enhance its capabilities as a versatile scattering tool for 3DS Max. This version aims to meet the diverse requirements of both offline renderers and real-time engines.
Versatility in Object Scattering
For the first time, Forest Pack 7 allows you to scatter not just geometric shapes but also lights. This is made possible through the software's robust distribution modes and randomisation tools. The flexibility to scatter various types of objects adds a new layer of versatility to your scene layouts.
Real-Time Engine Support
This release introduces real-time support, featuring a new beta exporter for Unity. It also offers compatibility with Chaos Vantage and Unreal Engine through Datasmith. Efforts have been made to enhance feature consistency across different supported renderers. For instance, Corona users can now utilise Forest Pack's animation modes. The API has also been updated to facilitate support for other renderers in the future.
Enhanced Library Browser
The library browser has been completely revamped to improve the user experience in finding and using assets. A notable feature is the one-click add object option, which simplifies the process of adding selected assets to a collection within a scene.
Colour Correction Tools
The software now includes tools for easy colour correction of materials from different sources. These tools enable you to modify the hue, saturation, and value of entire scatters. Additionally, you can limit the colours affected based on their hue, making it simpler to adjust specific aspects of a scatter.
Additional Features and Usability Improvements
Forest Pack 7 introduces an improved distribution reference mode that allows multiple items to be scattered per face. It also adds support for gbuffer render passes in V-Ray and features a Solo mode in the modifier panel, which keeps only one rollout open at a time. Among other things, items now align with the z-position of a spline.
New Content Libraries
Two new libraries have been added to Forest Pack 7, increasing the total number of collections to 15. These libraries include over 430 individual presets and assets, all of which are included in the cost of the plugin.
While Forest Pack has been synonymous with the scattering of trees and plants, this release expands its capabilities far beyond that. Whether you're looking to explore the new features or find compelling reasons to make the switch, Forest Pack 7 offers a range of functionalities to suit your project needs.
